Pollen8, Inc.is a nonprofit organization that serves as an umbrella to create social programs for drug-impacted and chronically poor families within our community.
History: Pollen8, Inc. was founded in 2015 and currently has multiple programs: Café Appalachia, Appalachian Academy, Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare, ReIntegr8.
Pollen 8 aims to utilize an AmeriCorps VISTA to create a farmers market in South Charleston, WV. The goal of the project is to provide fresh fruits, vegetables, and homemade items to the local community. The farmers market will make it easy and affordable for low-income citizens to have access to fresh and healthy food options. Pollen 8 also aspires to build up community capacity for our after-school-care program, Appalachian Academy. The after-school-care program provides homework assistance, tutoring, and mentoring to South Charleston Middle School students who are academically and socioeconomically at-risk. The respective VISTA will aid in these goals by fundraising, marketing, and acting as a community liaison.
