WV's Promise is dedicated to mobilizing individuals, groups and organizations, from every part of West Virginia life, to build and strengthen the character and competence of our youth. Research indicates that as the number of developmental resources in a young person's life increases, important trends are seen. First, health compromising behavior decreases dramatically (alcohol, tobacco and other drug use), violence, attempted suicide and drinking diminish. And as the number of resources increases, positive and thriving behavior increase, including school success and optimism for the future. When your organization makes a formal commitment to WV's Promise you will be joining multiple individuals and organizations who have formally pledged to deliver the 5 Promises to children and youth.
