Potomac Valley Audubon Society

Potomac Valley Audubon Society has been working with youth since 2001 by partnering with schools, youth organizations and families to offer programs geared at helping youth appreciate and understand the natural world. School programs focus on science content that supports state and national education standards, and almost always includes getting children outdoors to introduce them to the joys and health benefits of exercise in the natural world. At the same time the programs help students understand that a healthy environment leads to healthy people. By protecting local land and waterways they are ultimately protecting their own health. The summer day camp PVAS offers also focuses on getting youth outdoors and introduces them to hiking and other healthy outdoor activities, while teaching them about how to take care of themselves in the woods as well as how to take care of the natural world and the plants and animals that live there.
